ave Thompson, SNP MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch had the recent pleasure of visiting the much improved Culachy Estate in Fort Augustus. Dave met the Head Game Keeper, Scott Bremner, the Underkeeper, Raymond Robertson, and also the Trainee Game Keepers, Joe Gilchrist (17) and Adam Mackay (16), as well getting the chance to appreciate for himself the revamped site.
Mr Thompson said, “There was enthusiasm aplenty as I visited Culachy Estate in Fort Augustus and I thank Scott Bremner, the Head Game Keeper, for the kind invitation and Raymond Robertson, the Underkeeper for being so hospitable.
“The Estate is well managed, creates employment, and appears to have seen a lot of investment. It was particularly interesting to see photos of how the Estate looked 15 years ago to how it compares now”.
Dave went on,
“I was particularly impressed by Scott’s commitment to improving the Estate and I was fortunate to get the chance to meet Joe Gilchrist and Adam Mackay, who are both Trainee Game Keepers, with what looks to be a bright and secure future ahead for them.
“Culachy is an example to other Estates that good land owners have absolutely nothing to fear from current land reform legislation going through the Scottish Parliament and I look forward to being updated on the Culachy Estate’s enhancements in the months to come”.
