College performance confirmed by Scottish Funding Council
West Highland College UHI welcomes the Scottish Funding Council (SFC) publication of individual college performance indicators for 2013/14, the UHI Regional performance indicators and the SFC Performance Indicator and Baseline Publication.
Principal and Chief Executive Lydia Rohmer said: “We are particularly pleased to note that 75% of West Highland College UHI students who enrolled on full time courses in 13/14 achieved their course qualification. Our college performance figure compares very favourably with a national performance of 66%. This places the college amongst the highest performing colleges in Scotland and is a rise for the fourth successive year at West Highland College UHI. This demonstrates both our commitment to continuously strengthen and enhance learning and the student experience across our ten centres and the hard work of our talented staff teams to support our learners to succeed. We will continue to build on these results in the future by ensuring that every one of our students receives excellent support to empower them to make the right course choices and to complete their studies successfully in the future.
Strong performance indicators also confirm that the college is building on the highly successful Education Scotland external review in February 2014 which stated that the college had in place “effective arrangements to maintain and enhance the quality of its provision and outcomes for learners and other stakeholders”. Findings from the review can be found in the Education Scotland external review summary report and full report. In addition to this, the Learner Report contextualises highlights of the external review findings for our students.
A recent student survey further highlights the positive picture for the student experience at West Highland College UHI. In October 2014 97% of students responding stated that they are very satisfied or satisfied with their college experience so far.
