MORE young people will have the chance to learn about the wildlife and environment that surrounds them following a grant presented by local MSP Dave Thompson to allow the expansion of an educational project run by a community woodland project.
Mr Thompson agreed to present the cheque for £5,000 to Laggan Forest Trust on behalf of the Bank of Scotland Foundation.
The windfall will be used to purchase new equipment and help encourage more local children to take part in educational programmes run by the Trust.
The £5,000 award was given by the Bank of Scotland Foundation which distributes £1 million through its Small Grants Programme and Employee Matched Giving Schemes to community projects across Scotland every year.
Mr Thompson said: “I was pleased to perform the honours by handing over this cheque to Laggan Forest Trust. They already do a great deal to educate young people about the ecology and environment of their local woodland but this money will allow them to take that further.
“It was great to speak to local children and hear what they enjoy from the work of the Trust.
Mr Thompson presented the cheque at Laggan Forest Trust premises beside Laggan Wolftrax on Friday October 28.
Notes:
The Bank of Scotland Foundation is an independent charity working with charities across Scotland supporting people and their local communities.
