Dave Thompson, SNP MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch, has today welcomed the news that the Highland Real Nappy Project has been awarded £211,837 from the Climate Challenge Fund.
The Wee Footprints project will develop and promote techniques to deliver low-carbon parenting in the Highlands. Through the use of incentives, peer support training and practical events, Wee Footprints will work with new families and established early years providers to deliver significant carbon savings with a long term legacy.
Commenting on the award, Mr Thompson said: “This is a fantastic award to a very worthwhile organisations. The Highland Real Nappy Project provides help and advice to families throughout the Highland Council area.
“The Climate Challenge Fund is designed to support communities to take direct action on climate change by working at a local level to encourage people to reduce their carbon emissions.
“The Wee Footprints project will certainly make a big difference and I am glad to see that they have been awarded funding to help this happen.
“I wish them all the very best of luck with Wee Footprints and commend them for their hard work. I hope that the project is a successful one, which inspires others to take action, while giving the support that is sometimes needed to help this happen."
