Dave Thompson, SNP MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch has welcomed the news that the Southern Sleet Community Moorings Association has received £9,000 in funding.
The funding will be used to undertake a feasibility study to ascertain the benefits of redeveloping the Old Pier in Armadale Bay.
Commenting on this, Dave said: “I am delighted that these funds are coming to Skye, and the feasibility study represents a good opportunity to improve the Old Pier.
The South Sleat Community Moorings Association obtained the funding through the Big Lottery Funds ‘Awards for All’ programme by meeting the ‘People have better and more sustainable services and environments’ outcome.
The association is based at Ardvasar on Skye.
Adding to this, Dave said: “I would like to congratulate Mr David Dickson of the South Sleat Community Moorings Association on securing the grant.
“The redevelopment of the Old Pier could bring economic benefits to the area through jobs generated during the development, and would be a boost to the community. I look forward to the outcome of the feasibility study in due course.”
